If you haven't seen the X-Games video of Travis Pastrana's double backflip, it's a must see. Yes, I said 'double backflip' -- on a motorcycle. When you click on the video link you'll need to click into the video site and then watch a 30-second commercial (of course), but it is well worth the wait.
I am in complete awe. Way to go Travis!
Then, he came back the next day to win the first-ever X-Games rally - but only because rally legend Colin McRae flipped the car on the final jump right in front of the crowd. He landed on all four wheels and drove to the finish line, just missing the gold. Pastrana's run was a good one, but McRae put on a clinic of how to drive a rally car.
Even Travis was amazed by Colin's run telling the cameras, "Dude, Colin McRae is a god. He rolled the car and I don't think he lost any time. The guy's amazing."
But Colin did lose time during the roll so instead of winning by a second or so, he got the silver medal by fractions of a second. But, that is why you have the event, because anything can happen - and it did. It was certainly a thrill for everyone watching.
X-Games continue today, but I'm not sure anything will be able to top Travis' double backflip. Then again, he's going for 2 more medals so you never know.
Just a little tidbit for today. Thanks for stopping by.

Don't forget all the BMX stuff (unless it's already over). Haro (my bosses) ahve a lot of talented youg riders in the games. It's great seeing theem on TC because I've met them all and they're a good group of kids.
Pastrana's flip was insane! His jubilation at the top of the opposite ramp was priceless. Poor Jeremy McGrath just missed gold in the high jump... he trains on a Masi by the way...
McGrath trains on a Masi? Wow. That's cool. Do you market to the motocross guys at all? That should be a raving endorsement right there without McGrath even saying anything! Might be a crossover market for you...
That looks like a BLAST~~~ Of course, I would not want my boys or Kevin doing it, but DANG it looks like a bunch of fun.
Donna, great idea bout crossover marketing. I'm looking at Bicycling magazine right now and thinking "Why are all of these bike companies trying to convince Bicycling readers to buy their bikes?" If they want to grow the market, shouldn't they try plowing a little in new fields? I'm just a computer geek, though, so what do I know.
I'm just dumbfounded by Peter Chisholm's comment in the VeloNews shop talk video, in which he basically says "Good riddance" regarding people who might not buy a bike because of Tour de Dope backlash. Doesn't he have any vision to grow this thing?
Oh, the video was cool :-)
I'm working on the McGrath thing... stay tuned...
